Three Parents Arrested as Party Intervention Patrol Stops Party before it Started

The Seattle Times

With a team of 25 volunteers, police, and substance abuse professionals, the State Wide Party Intervention Patrol kicked off the coalition’s plan for a series of patrols which aim to shut down illegal parties as early as possible, arrest youth and adults who violate underage drinking laws.

Anonymous Tips Stopped the Parties Before They Even Got Started

Responding to an anonymous tip that following their prom in Tacoma, some Orting high school students were heading to a location just outside the Orting city limits, police set up surveillance in unincorporated Pierce County.

Three Parents Arrested in Two Separate Busts

Because police arrived at the residence where a party was expected to occur early, only one youth was arrested for a minor in possession and one adult was arrested for furnishing alcohol to a minor. A second party in Bonney Lake resulted in four underage youths being charged with MIP and two adults being arrested for furnishing alcohol to minors. One youth with a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit was taken to the hospital for possible alcohol poisoning and/or a drug overdose by the fire department. Chemical dependency professionals conducted brief alcohol and drug interventions with the remaining youth and trained parent volunteers met with parents when they came to pick up their kids.
